Graffiti Realism

Conor Harrington is an Irish born artist living and working in London. He combines cutting-edge graffiti techniques with old master painting techniques. He did graffiti in his early days and he still paints outdoor murals but keeps on track with completely new and inventive form, mostly in gallery settings. Conor Harrington presents his work both on the streets and in the galleries. The artist usually depicts images of people in a realistic manner while incorporating some abstract elements. He paints predominantly male figures and deals with male identity and gender distribution by tackling socio-political themes. By using a bold line in his work, together with exquisite shading and bursts of color, he creates a precision surface and texture in illustrations of the human form and has thus created a remarkable recognition value.
